Plan to FAIL 2017

We're smart, right?  We know that one simple mistake, one goof, one wrong move doesn't erase all the good moves that came before it, right?  But we self destruct over a single donut.  One Big Mac and you want to just fast forward to 2018 so you can make your resolutions again...  You know you've done it.  You've been there.  So have I!

I believe in goals.  I think they're important.  But I don't believe in just listing out all the fun aspirations for the year.  I don't want to sugar coat my goals.  I believe in the down & dirty goals.  I believe in the goals that cause me stress.  The goals that cause me to worry; make me anxious.  Things that make me uncomfortable.  Things I don't like.  Things that cause me to fail.

Embrace Clichés

Cliches exist because they best sum up the whole of our emotions, dreams, feelings, actions, and ideas of the world as we know it.  In one simple saying, one simple action, we can sum up the best of what we want to be and want do with our lives.  They are to be embraced, not shunned.  To be practiced, not resented...

...In 2017, you will become the best version of YOU possible.  You will become wiser.  You will become stronger.  You will become smarter.  You will become kinder.  You will become leaner.  You will become faster.  You will become BETTER.

Pendulum Training

When was the last time you did your workout differently?  Not a different workout.  The same workout done, y'know DIFFERENTLY?  One of the biggest pitfalls anyone call fall into is simply doing the same routines day in and day out without any real change is style or substance.

Training is about making yourself stronger in a fatigued state.  Not hitting a certain weight or rep range.  Your goal in the above pendulum swing is to be just as strong on your Bench Press whether it's the beginning or the ending lift.  Anyone can hit their target number week after week if they are always setting up the environment the same way.  You job is to continually challenge yourself to perform up to your maximum level no matter what the conditions.

Anthem for the Injured

To say that I have had an eventful year would be an understatement.  A little under one year ago, I was on top of my physical game.  I was finishing up another successful Ultimate Frisbee season, coming off the best physique photo shoot I had ever done, and was prepping to run a small 5k tracking a sub 7 minute pace.

One month later, I couldn't stand up to pee without crutches.

Goals Matter

As I have gotten older, I have become more of a believer in goals. Goals matter. You need them.

Without them, you are just floating around wherever the wind blows you. Living that way will end up being a bigger disappointment in the long run, I promise. You'll wake up one day and realize that all the things you wanted have passed you by; you'll be in a mad rush to make up for lost time. Well, I don't like that, so I'm dedicating the month of October to GOAL SETTING.

Fun Tip Friday! Vitamin C for FAT LOSS. Arrrrrrrrrrr!

Take Vitamin C after a workout for FAT LOSS.

Vitamin C, also known as L-ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Humans, unlike most animals, are unable to synthesize vitamin C endogenously (inside the body), so we must get it from other sources (our food).
